To test your slicing skills, you will modify the print parameters for a small test part. You will print #3DBenchy, which is a part design with challenging features to benchmark the quality of a printer.
Read the following about #3DBenchy:
Now that you know a little about the part, download it from Thingiverse Links to an external site. and slice it in Cura 4.0 (or newer).
Part 1 - Basic Slicing
- Download the #3DBenchy STL from Thingiverse
- Import the STL into Cura 4.0 (or newer)
- Use the following printer settings:
- No support
- 0.15 mm layer height
- 20 % infill
- Adhesion: Yes
- Export the file as a 3mf and upload it to Canvas.
Part 2 - Advanced Slicing
- Use the "Custom" printer settings to modify the "Normal" preset profile with the following:

- 15 % Infill
- 0.22 mm layer height
- 0.22 mm initial layer height
- Shell Wall Count: 2
- Top & Bottom Thickness: 0.88 mm (4 layers)
- Speed
- Infill Speed: 50 mm/s
- Outer Wall: 45 mm/s
- Inner Wall: 55 mm/s
- Brim Width: 5 mm
- Export the file as a 3mf and upload it to Canvas.
