Welcome to my capstone presentation Local Engagement and Global Populations: Civic Engagement Among Foreign-Born Communities in Wisconsin. 

Considering the participation of foreign-born populations in civic life is an essential component of a national and local discussion around civic health. There is much to learn about the civic engagement among the foreign-born population in Wisconsin, which comprises 5.1 percent of the state population. 

In my capstone project, I connected with organizations across Wisconsin who work with non-US citizen communities to learn about their engagement with them and how these communities connect. I reviewed the difficulties or opportunities that emerged from discussions and have summarized them in my presentation.  

I did this work with Civic Health of Wisconsin InitiativeLinks to an external site. – a non-partisan initiative that looks at how Wisconsin’s civic participation is doing. Civic participation includes any involvement and connection with neighbors and communities. This project contributes to better understanding how Wisconsin’s small towns and city neighborhoods become the best places to live and work for everyone.
