Week 7: CS Unplugged Activities
- Ice breaker: Find your group of Scratch blocks
- Whole class time
- CS Unplugged:
Links to an external site. Good to break up Scratch time in last weeks; good change of pace; good if computer problems
- Demo Parity Magic Trick (always fun but doesn't match theme and may have been used before; can use up time as needed)
- Growth Mindset for kids who are getting frustrated...
- Homework:
- Continue weekly reflections and lesson plans; remember to think about formative assessment during your clubs
- Email constructive feedback to your group members
- Read Motivate Students to Succeed
- Work time with randomized group: Discuss Behavioral Scenarios (until 6:30)
- Add yourself to the correct Group Set within "Random for Behavior Discussion" based on your Scratch blocks
- For 4 of the scenarios: rotate who starts discussing and post a response in the corresponding Discussion
- person 1: reads scenario out loud and say "I think a good response to this would be <insert idea x here>" and elaborate on why.
- person 2:
- option 1: I agree that it would be a good idea to try <insert idea x here>. I also think we could try <insert idea y here> and elaborate on why.
- option 2: I think <insert idea x here> is interesting, but I would modify it a little by <adjustment x'>.
- person 3: build from persons 1 and 2 by adding new ideas or making adjustments. Summarizes what has been said.
- person 4: writes down in Discussion the summary of what you agreed on
- Work time with your club site (until 7:00)
