  2. Perform inpatient consults and follow up on inpatients. Students should page the nephrologist on call after clinic to see if there are any inpatient consults to see. Students should carry their pagers at all times so they can be contacted when there is a consult to see.
  3. If possible, see patients on dialysis and review dialysis physiology.
  4. If possible, attend a renal biopsy.
  5. Give a 15 minute presentation on a topic of their choice in the final week of the elective.
  6. Students should check with the course director regarding learning activities for any unscheduled time.

See https://pediatrics.wisc.edu for current Grand Rounds schedule

  1. Clinics
    • Schedule – For most up to date schedule, especially add-on patients, check HealthLink (Dept = “AFCH NEPH”)
    • There will be generally be someone seeing clinic patients in person; however, if there are no in-person clinic patients on a specific day, please page the attending on call to determine what to do for the day.
  2. Inpatient Consults
    • Work with the attending on service to determine whether or not you should see new consults together or independently (after which you will present to the attending). In general, clinic patients take priority over consults.
  3. Resident Education Sessions – see schedule in MedHub (Instructions for accessing MedHub in “Educational Resources” section below.)
