Read this 2-page document summarizing some of Piaget's and Bloom's theories of cognitive development.  After reading, please reflect and write about these questions.

  • Consider a 4th grader according to Piaget's list; which capability of theirs seems most important for programming?  Why?  Now, consider a 5th grader; what capability seems most important for programming and why?
  • Think about how you would apply Bloom's levels to learning about programming.  Briefly, what do you think each level would entail for programming? (One sentence per level is fine.)   Describe in detail two programming lessons you could design for your club that focus on two consecutive levels (e.g., level 3 and level 4).
