Reflection:

This is the Home Page/Welcome Page for Interior Design 1.  This is the first page that students see when the class launches, and will also serve as the home page for the Canvas course throughout the semester.  Previous to taking the online teaching course, my Canvas site was much more 'nuts and bolts', focusing purely on delivering/receiving projects and assignments. After the online teaching course, I tried to develop a more visually interesting and friendly approach, so the site would be more engaging to work with during the semester.

The home page contains the most important links the students will need during the semester, so navigation is as straight forward as possible.

Welcome to Interior Design 1!

Congratulations to each of you for your acceptance into the Interior Architecture program, we are thrilled to have you all join us this year.  I am looking forward to working with all of you this fall semester in Interior Design 1 and catching up with you since our time together last spring! This course will be administered completely online through Canvas. Please pay close attention to the course site each week in order to stay on top of all assignments and updates.

For the first short week, September 2 - September 4, you will want to be sure to do the following. (This is also listed under Week 1).

The Course Booklet  and Canvas site both provide an overview of the course and expectations as well as the course schedule.  Interior Design 1 is a foundation course, and covers a great deal of content through a variety of methods.  You will be responsible for weekly content that typically includes, readings, videos, responses, quizzes, as well as longer, more in depth interior design projects that allow you to apply what you’ve learned.  During our weekly meetings on BBCollaborate Ultra, you will have the opportunity to ask questions and receive feedback from both myself as well as your classmates.

I will be holding a first day of class welcome session on Thursday, September 3rd at 10:00am on BBCollaborate Ultra. At that time I will cover the basics of the course structure and how we will be using Canvas, software, project types, and will be available to answer any questions that you may have. (The session will be recorded and  can be watched later if you are unable to attend.)  Watch Here!

I hope you’re all as excited as I am to learn from each other this semester, and I look forward to ‘seeing’ you all on Thursday!

If you have any questions before the first day, please let me know.  The best way to reach me is by email: bagodfrey@wisc.edu.

See you soon,

-Brooke Godfrey
