Melody Harvey - Icebreaker Activity

During MTLE’s FIT, we fellows completed an exercise where we had to pick an object around our home that described how we felt about teaching this coming semester. We shared our object and explained how it relayed how we felt about teaching in small groups of 3. I thought this was an awesome icebreaker and a fun way to exercise a different part of the brain. (I picked a black wooden box I have on my desk).

I adapted this activity to have students pick an object around their home that describes their relationship with money and explain how so. I randomly assigned them to small groups of 4 so that they could easily see just a handful of responses given how large the class is (currently has 99 students and 1 auditor). I provided an example below to help them with the assignment.
