PA 200 and PA 201 are the only undergraduate Public Affairs courses open to all students, making them the ideal starting point for your certificate journey.

Public Policy Certificate: Public Affairs 200
Health Policy Certificate: Public Affairs 201

These introductory courses provide the foundational knowledge and skills necessary for success in the rest of the certificate curriculum. Completing a core course is also one of the requirements for declaring a certificate.

Before enrolling in a Public Affairs internship course (PA 360 or PA 369), students must first complete PA 200 or PA 201.

Because priority enrollment for most Public Affairs courses is given to declared major and certificate students, we encourage interested students to begin with PA 200 or PA 201 as early as possible. This allows students to build a strong foundation while making progress toward certificate declaration. To help declared students complete their programs by graduation, priority enrollment is given to declared majors and certificate students during registration.
