Create a timeline for your application

This is simply a guide to help you maximize the strength of your application. Please do not be discouraged if you start late! You're welcome to reach out to Sara Gia Trongone (trongone@wisc.edu) to discuss projects at all stages.

August-October (and even earlier!)

  • Engage or volunteer with the community partner you plan to work with
  • Learn about the context and community you would like to work with for the fellowship
  • Schedule a meeting with the WIF Graduate Advisor to discuss community engagement and building partnerships

 

November

  • Review WIF canvas page and WIF website for details on the fellowship
  • Reach out to potential community advisors and academic advisors about interest in co-creating a WIF project
  • Meet with community and academic advisors to design a first iteration of your fellowship project together, including goals and objectives of the fellowship
  • Schedule a meeting with the WIF Graduate Advisor to consult on project design

 

Early-to-mid December

  • Review all application materials on WIF canvas page
  • Check in with academic and community advisor to see if project goals and objectives should be adjusted
  • Begin application, including budget
  • Visit the Writing Center to get support in grant writing process
  • Solicit letters of support from academic and community advisor
  • Solicit signatures from academic and community advisors

 

Late December

  • Complete first draft of application
  • Request feedback from academic and community advisors on first draft of application

 

Early January

  • Edit proposal
  • Ensure you have all application materials gathered
  • Submit to the priority application deadline (January 5th)

 

Late January

  • Make any edits to the priority application from the Graduate Mentor feedback
  • Submit to the final application deadline (February 9th)
