About Me

Hello! My name is Cody, and I'm one of the members of the Student Services team. You can find me in 2405 Grainger Hall Monday-Thursdays, and I'm always happy for students to drop by or schedule an appointment with me (including virtual appointments on Fridays!). I also am the co-advisor for our variety of graduate student organizations that you can get involved with during your time as a student.

I support all FTMBA and Master's students, but work closely with these FTMBA specialization areas: Technology, Strategy & Product Management (TSPM), Risk Management & Insurance (RMI), Supply Chain Management, Strategic Human Resources (SHR), and Applied Security Analysis (ASAP). I work closely with these Specialty Master's programs: MS-Business Analytics, MS-Supply Chain, and MS-Finance, Investment, & Banking (ASAP).

Who I am

I count my time in Wisconsin by the number of winters I've been here - I'm preparing to head into my third Wisconsin winter in 2023-2024. I'm still constantly alarmed at the amount of snow we sometimes get in Madison! I am originally from Kentucky where I did my bachelor's degree at the University of Kentucky, and lived in Texas for 5 years (and completed my Master's there), followed by a couple years in Edinburgh, Scotland before moving to Wisconsin - so Madison is by far the coldest and snowiest place I've lived. My family and I love to travel; I've lived in Paris, France when I was younger. lived and worked in Edinburgh, Scotland, and visited my parents frequently when they lived in Switzerland for a couple years. In addition to traveling fairly widely for personal travel, I also studied abroad in France and India while at the University of Kentucky.

I've spent my career working in student services with a focus on international and diverse student populations. I've worked at three large and well-regarded research institutions in a variety of student-facing and administrative roles: the University of Texas at Austin, the University of Edinburgh, and now at the University of Wisconsin. I've worked in Study Abroad, with visiting international students, in academic advising, and supporting university functions in the Registrar's office - and through it all have found that I'm passionate about student success, and love working closely with students to help support you to achieve your goals. Although I don't have a STEM background myself, I love being in 'STEM-adjacent' roles where I can support students pursuing their interests.

I have a 1.5 year old son and two small dogs. My family spends most of our time outside, regardless of the season - although I don't consider myself outdoorsy (you won't catch me camping!). I love being active, and love that Wisconsinites get outside in all kinds of weather. I'm working towards being a hardy Wisconsinite myself by taking advantage of our neighborhood ice skating rink, and trying as many winter sports as I possibly can.

I love learning new things and staying busy. On the weekends you'll find me building things around my house, trying (unsuccessfully) to garden, hiking, exploring a new park or activity in Madison, or trying out a new skill. I'll try anything once, but most things I'll only try once - I lose interest once I feel like I've mastered something! I have a major sweet tooth, and will never turn down a snack or a sweet.
