Please complete this tutorial from Social Science Computing Center at UW Madison on Data Wrangling in Stata. 

You can skip over sections that cover content you are very comfortable with already, but note that some of your existing skill set may include some bad habits so it's helpful to at least skim all of the content. All of the example files are available by running net get dws, from(https://ssc.wisc.edu/sscc/stata/) from within Stata.
