Engagement in this Course
Engaging in this course is important because it creates space for you to:
- Learn to identify gender-based harassment and sexual violence.
- Learn strategies to stop violence before it happens.
- Reassess your roles, boundaries, and responsibilities on campus.
- Learn about resources should you or someone you know ever need them.
- Learn to support survivors in a way that will affirm their experience.
This course will take about 90-120 minutes to complete. There are five (5) units in this course. Each unit has specific activities and learning objectives to help you reflect on your role in contributing to a safer campus community for UW-Madison.
Before the end of each unit, participants will complete a Knowledge Check which assesses knowledge of a specific learning objective. In order to move on to the next unit you need to complete the Knowledge Check with 100% accuracy.
Completing the Knowledge Checks
If you have issues completing the Knowledge Checks consider the following questions
- Have I achieved each unit’s learning objectives?
- Is there any content I may have skipped that relates to the learning objectives?
- If the answer is ‘Yes’, consider revisiting the content you skipped over.
Please note if you skipped content due to feeling like you can’t participate, it may be necessary to contact the program administrator at violenceprevention@uhs.wisc.edu for further assistance.
We recognize that there are survivors and individuals who have experienced violence who will be engaging in this course. We have been intentional in letting participants guide their own engagement.
Welcome Videos
Before you begin this course please choose your school to watch a video and hear from leaders from various disciplines in and around UW-Madison.
Each of these leaders and the schools they represent are committed to addressing systemic violence.
After viewing the video, you then will be asked to complete a pre-survey, and at the end of Unit 5, you will be asked to complete a post-survey. Your engagement with both surveys, as well as the Knowledge Checks for each unit, is mandatory for your completion of this course.
