Abstract:
I examined how including controversial current events into the curriculum affects student engagement in social studies. After virtual learning began, students completed multiple assignments regarding their experiences with the pandemic. By comparing student work to similar assignments, I determined how effectively the use of controversial current events stimulated their engagement.
