AEFIS - Eval: Beginning a New Evaluation Season

The AEFIS Evaluation Cycle

Through each semester, AEFIS course evaluations follow a similar pattern:

  • Throughout the semester, evaluation surveys need to be created and scheduled.
  • College or department AEFIS administrators must assign courses to the current survey instance.
  • On a predetermined date, the surveys will become available to the students, (typically) two weeks before the last day of classes.
  • Students will (typically) have two weeks to complete the survey. During which time AEFIS administrators can monitor completion rates.
  • After the official last day of instructors submitting grades, instructors can access the results of the survey submissions, and AEFIS administrators can run comprehensive reports.

Create and schedule course evaluation surveys

This element of AEFIS course evaluations is the largest and, for some, most challenging aspect of managing course evaluations. Since it only comes up once every three or four months, it often causes college and department AEFIS administrators to feel a little unsettled.

If your college or department has settled into a routine, if the evaluations that have been created and scheduled will remain unchanged for the upcoming semester, there may be nothing for you to do at this stage. If the schedule was set to "repeat for every semester", then you can rest assured that your surveys will be generated at the appropriate time. All you would need to do then would be to open the survey instance, and assign courses (and, possibly, exclude instructors).
