Week 2 : Get to know your site

  1. Ice breaker - Rock/paper/scissors within site and then group
  2. Discuss site visits (Bring background check to site, checklist, and fill in contracts)

  4. Role Play: What should you do for first club meeting?
    1. Have kids decorate nametags or table tents while waiting to begin
    2. Introduce yourselves
    3. OPTIONAL: Ice Breaker
    4. AWAY FROM COMPUTERS: What is Computer Science?
      1. CS is about CREATING, developing solutions to problems, studying algorithms
      2. What is an algorithm?  Series of precise step-by-step instructions for solving a problem
      3. Examples of algorithms all around us (recipes, directions for legos, piano music)
    5. Club Rules: Create with the kids
      1. Pay attention when asked
      2. Only school-appropriate projects
      3. Time is for creating Scratch projects, not playing on the computers
      4. Respect others
      5. Have fun
